This economy really forces us to stretch our dollars nowadays. We decided to launch this new segment to show you how to use one piece in three different ways. With the cardigan being an essential article of clothing in your wardrobe this fall and winter, we have chosen to explore how you can wear it in three totally different settings. As always, the most important factor in buying any garment is the fitting. Keep into account, you will always be wearing a shirt underneath. However, this is not your Grandfather’s cardigan so you don’t want it to fit loosely. Make sure to try the cardigan on with a long sleeve underneath. Your cuff should not pass more than 1 inch past your wrist.
First look: A solid Oxford button front and heathered trousers is clean; making the checkered, two-tone cardigan a nice injection of color which balances out the outfit. Make sure to choose a clean shoe, the less seams the better. Bags aren’t just for girls, pick a bag with character.
Second Look: T-shirt and jeans will never go out of style. Take a plain V-neck tee and top off with a cardigan then match it with dark denim jeans at the right length. Your pant cuff should end just below your ankle when standing. Use a plain pair of tennis sneakers and a nice driver’s cap to complete the look.
Third Look: For a night out, use your cardigan with a plain, traditional henley and some dark denim jeans. Jazz it up a little bit by taking a nice silk scarf and placing it in your back jean pocket; just peeking out a bit. Stuff and pull for a natural look. Opt for dark colored shoes to complement the ensemble.
